ARP Pro Series Head Stud Kit — Toyota 2JZ (203-4205)
The head studs virtually every top professional engine builder relies on for all-out competition powerplants. On a boosted 2JZ they're the part that stops the head lifting when cylinder pressure climbs past what factory bolts were designed for.
The manufacturing is the reason for the price. ARP uses premium grade 8740 alloy rated far superior to "aircraft" quality, with each stud placed vertically in special racks and precisely heat-treated to 200,000 psi — that ensures complete heat penetration rather than dumping pieces in a basket and hoping.
After heat treat, each stud is centerless ground through about ten very slight cuts to make it as close to perfectly concentric as possible. The practical result: gaskets and cylinder heads literally glide into position and align perfectly, which doesn't happen with inferior studs.
Threads are rolled after heat treat, giving roughly 1000% better fatigue strength than studs threaded before heat treat — a very common industry practice elsewhere. It costs more and it's hard on tooling, and it's why these hold.
Stud ends are broached for easy installation, which also lets the cylinder head come off in tight quarters — worth something on a Supra with the engine in the car.
Includes heat-treated chrome-moly 12-point nuts and parallel-ground washers for even load distribution and accurate torque readings. Black oxide finish.
Fitment: 93-98 Toyota Supra, 01-05 Lexus IS300 — 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE.
Pair these with an MLS head gasket. MLS needs consistent clamp load to seal, and that's exactly what a properly torqued stud kit delivers where a stretched factory bolt can't.
