ARP Pro Series Head Stud Kit — Nissan SR20 (102-4701)

The clamping force that keeps a cylinder head from lifting under boost. On a built SR20 that's the whole job — head lift is what kills gaskets, and no gasket fixes a fastener problem.

Manufactured from premium grade 8740 alloy heat treated to 200,000 psi. Each stud is placed vertically in special racks during treatment, which ensures complete heat penetration rather than dumping pieces in a basket and hoping for the best.

After heat treat, each stud is centerless ground through about ten very slight cuts to make it as close to perfectly concentric as possible. The result is an exceptionally straight part — heads and gaskets glide into position instead of fighting you during assembly.

Threads are rolled after heat treat, giving roughly 1000% better fatigue strength than studs threaded before heat treat, which is common practice elsewhere. Pro Series studs are also cold-forged to preserve molecular integrity.

Specs: M11 x 1.5 thread, 12-point nuts, 8740 chromoly, black oxide, undercut. Hardened parallel-ground washers included for even load distribution and accurate torque readings.

Fitment: 1989-1999 Nissan SR20DE, SR20DET, SR20VE, SR20VET. S13, S14, S15 240SX and Silvia, plus FWD B13/B14 applications.

Pair with an MLS head gasket. MLS needs consistent, even clamp load to seal properly, and that's exactly what a stud kit delivers where a torque-to-yield factory bolt can't.

Worth doing on any SR20 that's open. If the head is off for cams, valves, or a gasket, this is the cheapest insurance against doing the job twice.
