Competition Clutch Stage 4 Sprung 1620 Series Clutch Kit — 1G/2G DSM, Evo 1-3 (5048-1620)

The Strip Series 1620 kit — a six-puck sprung disc with ceramic buttons, matched to a performance pressure plate for up to 250% increase in torque capacity. Rated for 450 wheel torque.

Six-puck ceramic is where you go when a full-face disc has run out of grip. The reduced contact area concentrates clamp load onto less surface, which is what gives it the bite to hold a boosted 4G63, and the puck design sheds heat far better than a full disc during repeated hard launches.

Sprung, not rigid. The double-spring, six-rivet carriage absorbs driveline shock, which is what makes gear transitions manageable at this power level. An unsprung disc at 450 wheel torque beats on the transmission every shift.

Fitment: 1990-1999 Eclipse GST/GSX, 1990-1998 Talon TSi, 1990-1994 Laser RS, 1990-1993 Galant VR4, 1992-1993 Evolution I, 1994-1995 Evolution II-III, plus 1991-1999 3000GT and 1991-1996 Stealth in FWD non-turbo form.

Expect it to feel like a race clutch. Engagement is quick and there's more pedal effort than stock. That's the trade for holding 450 wheel torque in a car that still gets driven.

300-mile break-in is required. Ceramic buttons glaze if you get on them before the surfaces seat, and that isn't warrantable.

Kit weighs 13.68 lbs. Includes the performance pressure plate, six-puck ceramic sprung disc, throwout bearing, pilot bearing where applicable, and alignment tool. Flywheel not included.
