Three design features address specific EJ problems:

SmartLug eliminates the conventional lug recess, so no oil escapes there and full oil pressure is maintained. On a flat-four that's fighting oiling at high RPM, that's not a small detail.

Full oil groove with a 90° groove shape keeps oil flow intact and increases load capacity by expanding surface area. Combined with the added oil slots, it fixes the insufficient oil flow that plagues these engines under sustained load.

Narrowed bearing lengths help eliminate dangerous fillet ride on high-radius crankshafts — the failure mode where the bearing edge climbs the crank radius and loses its film.

The result is roughly 20 percent higher load capacity than a standard performance bearing.
