Mishimoto Performance Top-Mount Intercooler Kit — Subaru WRX/STI, Black / Black (MMTMIC-WRX-01BKBK)

A direct-fit TMIC upgrade for the EJ, and the design change that matters is the inlet.

Single entry inlet instead of the stock Y-pipe. The factory setup splits the charge and feeds the core from two directions; the single-inlet tank design gives maximum airflow and disperses air properly across the whole core. That's what actually drives the AIT reduction — an intercooler only cools the air that touches its fins, and a poorly-fed core wastes half its surface area.

High efficiency bar-and-plate core provides increased volume and improved heat transfer over the factory tube-and-fin. Cast aluminum end tanks are precision engineered for smooth flow.

Tested numbers: on a 305 hp test vehicle running 20-22 psi, this intercooler gained 14 hp and dropped intake temps 30°F. Cooler, denser air also means more room for aggressive tuning.

Completely bolt-on — zero modifications to the vehicle.

Everything for the install is in the box: silicone bypass hoses for both WRX and STI, silicone crankcase ventilation hose, bypass valve gasket, silicone throttle body hose, T-bolt clamps, and all hardware.

Fitment: 2002-2007 Subaru WRX, 2004-2007 STI.

Rated for stock and modified vehicles up to 350 hp. Past that you're into a larger TMIC or a front-mount conversion.
